Rolland Baker Health Update from Heidi – 9 October 2008

Dear Friends,

In a few days, Rolland and I will be spending some time alone resting and praying together.  Thank you for understanding that we will not be able to respond personally to your calls and emails.  We especially appreciate your prayers during this time.  We will be posting updates periodically on our news blog:  http://www.irismin.org/wordpress/ or via the Iris administrative site:  http://www.irismin.com/latest_news.cfm.

Last week Rolland was diagnosed with an advanced case of malaria after several days of what he thought was a stomach bug.  He was admitted to the hospital and put on an IV quinine drip and monitored closely for any damage to vital organs.  His kidneys were shutting down at the time, but they are functioning again.  Thank you for your urgent prayers.

Malaria is a very serious matter, and we deeply appreciate the prayers and encouragement of our many friends around the world.   I am happy to say that Rolland is greatly improved and responding to prayer and the medical treatments.  He is still in intensive care and under very good care. He is alert and in good spirits, and we look forward to his discharge from the hospital by next week, if not sooner.  He is still weak as he has not eaten for several days, and he still needs much prayer and rest.

Thank you again for your continuing prayer covering.  It is awesome to be part of a large, caring and compassionate family.  May the blessings of heaven cover you all!

In His Love,
Heidi Baker
