Vocational Training Program

"For I know the plans I have for you...plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jer. 29:11). It is our desire to impart God's plan of destiny to youth, and invest in their lives. Our vision is to see the youth grow and mature in all of their God-given gifts. We train through education; assist in money management and teach marketable skills. We also provide a job shadowing program to give exposure to various vocations. We want youth to flourish and become pillars of strength their community.

Our vision

  • For the children to learn a marketable skill they can use in the Mozambican context to provide for themselves and to be a benefit to the community
  • Discover what gifts God has given to them and how they can develop these gifts.
  • Understand what a calling is and how it relates to one's vocation as well as attaining life skills in terms of life outside of the center through training and mentoring.
  • Develop long term planning skills for their future at a young age through education, training and discipleship
  • Grow in money management, being taught how to save and spend it wisely

What We Do

We work on three important issues in our youths' lives.
1. Identifying the children's need
2. Working out a plan for each child
3. Assisting and encouraging the child to act on that plan

In Pemba, specifically, we have started several programs. One is a cooking program for youth in order to work in a restaurant. We have made arrangements local restaurants to help train them. We have also started a shadowing program that gives the children who are not yet in a trade school the opportunity to watch a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mason, or a mechanic to understand the trade.
