Nova Friburgo
Our city is located in the 'Regiao Serrana' in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In January, 2011, the city was devastated by Brazil's largest natural disaster. Economically, this has resulted in some problems for the city with many small industries struggling to survive and some simply closing down. For our young people, the perceived lack of opportunity can be very frustrating - especially for those from the poorer and more marginalised sectors of society. Poverty, crime, violence and the ever-growing drug scene are just some of the issues that touch our city and with which our young people have to deal on a daily basis.
OUR VISION
We want to see our city and community changed by the love and power of Jesus; to see hope re-established in the lives of those that we love and serve. We long to see lives transformed - especially those of young people, children and their families that are caught in cycles of addictions, poverty and crime. We want to see the 'hidden treasures of the darkness'(Isaiah 45:3) taken from the hands of the enemy and returned to the Father's house, proudly displayed, for all to see.
