Boane is located in Southern Mozambique. The base in a rural area of Boane called Massaca II. It was founded as a refugee camp and continues to be home for many poor people, although the situation is improving.

Project Benjamin of Iris Ministries in Boane exists to evangelize, plant churches and transition men from Iris Ministries to financial independence, social interdependence and complete dependance upon God.

Because we're located south and west of Maputo in a rural area, it is an ideal place from which to evangelize poor villages far removed socially and economically from urban Maputo or suburban areas. Villages targeted for new church plants are typically poor, without electricity and located far from paved roads. It is where the "streets have no names."

Another benefit of evangelism in this area is the consistency of the heart language of the people. Most people speak Shangaan which simplifies evangelism.
